Ocktoberfest in Breckenridge
We headed to Breckenridge to celebrate Ocktoberfest with the Watsons. The girls had a blast running around Ocktoberfest. I spent most of the day working, so by the time I joined them at Ocktoberfest, I wasn't in the mood for pictures. But the girls ended the night in the hot tub, and I couldn't resist these two blondies!

Pirate's Cove
For Labor day, I wanted to do something special and fun with the girls to bring summer to an end. Their summer has truly been all.about.water. Back in the spring, there was a groupon for Pirate's Cove, but I thought their was no way the girls would be ready for a water park yet. Wrong. Scott has been taking them swimming (at least) twice a week all summer long. After visiting every pool in our vicinity, I thought it would be fun to go some place new!
(Luckily someone on Staplemoms couldn't use their groupon, so I purchased it (at an even greater discount) and off we went... clearly it was going to be a good day!)
First off they played in the pirate ship area, which Mady love.love.loved. But Annabelle wasn't thrilled with, because large amount of water would all of a sudden fall from significant heights, and she didn't want to be caught in that. So off we went to hit the pool area, which is where I was totally amazed.
In the late spring, when we had our last swimming lesson for the season, Annabelle would literally SCREECH if she was more than an arms length away from an adult and she felt the slightest bit insecure (with her backpack). And Mady wanted to be independent but hadn't figured out how to do it quite yet. Well now, 3 months later, Annabelle is swimming 15+ feet from the wall, without any swimming device. And Mady didn't want me to be anywhere near her "i go by myself" with the swimming backpack on. I know this is common for kids, but I honestly can't believe how far they have come in 3 months! Today, for the first time ever in a pool with my girls, I wasn't so concerned about them, and I got to really enjoy watching them be little fishes.
Before heading home, Annabelle & I also got to spend some time relaxing for a few laps on the lazy river....of course that was way to slow for Mady!!

The sun will come out, tomorrow...
There are about four movies that define my childhood...
Annie
Pete's Dragon
Mary Poppins - already a staple at our house
Parent Trap
Well, we tried to watch Pete's Dragon when we were in Portland over the 4th of July, and while Mady thought it was super fun, with a silly dragon & all, Annabelle was totally freaked out.
I found a copy of Annie (let me be specific, the Disney 2000 remake version, not that classic I grew up with) while cleaning out our garage on Saturday. When it started raining today, we decided a movie night was in store for the evening. Much to my absolute delight, Annabelle picked Annie!! Both girls loved it!!! I am certain it will be another staple at our house! (I already ordered the original!!)
Fun times!
In a few more years..... Parent Trap!

Ballet School Dropout!
Well after giving it a four week try, Mady is a ballet school dropout! This was a picture from right before class last week, and it only went down hill from here...
She much prefers to hang out at Starbucks while sister dances!
