Are these cherries real?

This is a classic Mady moment. Cathy & Lauren (Mady's teachers) say Mady is a happy baby except when she can't get her dress in her mouth! Hee hee... Annabelle never did this, it is definitely a Mady thing!

4 Month Appt

We are a couple weeks late for Madelyn's 4 month well check visit. Dr Gini was on vacation, and given Madelyn's medical history to date we thought it would be best to wait and see her. Madelyn is doing great! Here are the official stats....

14 lbs, 4 oz (52%)
25.25 inches (74%)
16.4 inches (75%)

Dr. Gini was especially pleased with her weight gain, she said you would never know Mady spent two weeks in the hospital. We get to start foods in a few more weeks - fun stuff.

Blessed Sacrament

Okay, it is time to explain myself....

Annabelle started a new school today. It is a small school in our neighborhood for 2 year olds (Preschool Twos) through 8th grade with less than 400 students. And YES, it is a Catholic School. Yes... I am sending my Jewish little girl (if your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish) to Catholic School. I have tried to have a sense of humor about the whole thing, so I make lots of jokes. For instance, you know you are really Jewish, when you are asking your friends what you have to do to become a member of the parish just so you can save money on Catholic school tuition! But in all seriousness, the school is FABULOUS! And we couldn't be more excited to become part of the school community. I definitely believe in the values taught at in a religion based school. So today was a big day in the Iten house, Annabelle carried her elephant purse (lunch cooler) into school, and was probably the only one in her classroom who didn't cry at drop-off!

I wish I had had my camera back for this morning (it has been in the shop for a few weeks), but no such luck! The point & shoot had to do!

Annabelle & Madelyn

Annabelle was born on a Sunday and we went home from the hospital on a Thursday.

Madelyn was born on a Thursday and we went home from the hospital on a Sunday.

Annabelle spent her first night in the NICU at Rose.

Madelyn spent 7 nights in the NICU at Children's (in addition to 6 nights inpatient.)

It snowed when we were in the hospital when Annabelle was born, it was late November.

It snowed when we were at Children's with Madelyn, it was early May.

Annabelle LOVED her binkie from day one!

Madelyn thinks her binkie is okay sometimes.

Annabelle had blue eyes until she was 10 months old, now she is my brown eyed girl.

Madelyn has blue eyes still.

Annabelle was always in clothes.

Madelyn is often a diaper only baby, she has always been warm, even in the womb.

Annabelle hated the bath until she was two months old. And she still doesn't really love bath time.

Madelyn has enjoyed the bath from day one.

Annabelle has an innie.

Madelyn had an outie, but she has a hernia above her belly button (nothing they will do anything about), that depending on how it heals might turn her outie to an innie. It is sort of a combo at the moment!

Annabelle liked whomever was feeding her in the current moment.

Madelyn is a mommy's girl all the way.

Annabelle slept 10+ hours at 12 weeks.

Madelyn sleeps 8 - 10 hours and has since 14 weeks.

Annabelle's ears are the same size.

Madelyn's right ear is bigger than her left.

Annabelle & Madelyn make all the exact same baby sounds {sighs, laughter, squeaks & squeals!}

Stop Kicking Me!

(walking through Target doing our shopping this weekend, Madelyn was in her car seat in the basket of the shopping cart, and Annabelle was sitting in the seat of the shopping cart)

A: Stop Kicking ME!
C: {puzzled} I am not kicking you?
A: No!!!!!! Madelyn is kicking me!!!!!
C: oops, she sure is! {grin}

Madelyn's legs were just long enough to reach her sister!

Annabelle

On the way home from school this is a common dialogue from Annabelle

Annabelle: I need Elli, Rowan & Om to go to the blue carpet.... I need Parker & Jack Jack & Mayan to go to (fill in the blank)... etc, etc, etc....

we also sometimes get a reenactment of someone getting in trouble
~~~
M: (fusing)
A: Mommy Madelyn is hungry
~~~
A: Mady Mae you are awake. Mommy do you want to wake up like Mady?
C: Nope
~~~
A: I had an accident at the mall. No popsicle. Sad day Annabelle, sad day.
~~~
A: Mickey! (pointing to the travel section of the newspaper)
S: We will take you to Disney in a couple years
A: Wonderful!
~~~
A: Mommy I can have gum when I am six!!!
S: (shrugging his shoulders!)
C: (chuckle) Okay, sounds good
(Anyone who knows Katie will get this one!)
~~~
M: (fusing)
A: Mommy....(pause).... WE are hungry.

Proud as a Peacock

To celebrate Annabelle's last day at Primrose (more on her new school in a future post!) I wanted to get treats for her class! Since I wanted to make it extra special for Annabelle, I decided we would drop off her sister at school, and then go together just the two of us to pick out something special. Well when we got to the store, Annabelle said "mommy I am going to have a cookie & you have ice cream." When I explained to her we weren't just getting treats for us, but her entire class... she was totally wide-eyed! I guess when I say "were going to go get treats" usually I just mean our family, so she couldn't believe we were getting treats for everyone in her class!!!!! She literally strutted through the store. It was the cutest thing E.V.E.R. She told everyone doing their shopping that she was bringing these treats to her class (pointing at the cupcake cake I was carrying.) I wasn't sure if the special moment would be lost on her, but it certainly was not!!

Million of things

Well I had a million things to do, so what does any normal person do when they have a million things to get done.... leave the list behind and head to the MOUNTAINS! I have no idea what my family is going to eat for dinner this coming week, but who cares!! We had a much needed night away!

Since we have our timeshare we rarely have to stay in a studio hotel room (we are spoiled, and we definitely know it!) and now that we are a family of four we weren't sure what to expect. Despite all attempts to convince Annabelle that the pull out couch was a really cool magic bed, she wasn't having it! Suffice to say everyone except Annabelle slept on the pull out. {silver lining - since we went to bed at Annabelle's bedtime we got an amazing night of sleep}
