Pink Eyes

It is the first week of school (okay I am way behind on the blog....so pretend it is still the first week of school!) and Mady already has pink eye. She stayed home from school with Scott for a day. The next morning, when she woke up...

C: Oh baby, her eyes are still red
M: (pointing to her eye) no, they PINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only a girl, would be proud of pink eye.

Back to School

Last Saturday, I took Annabelle to Castle Rock to go back to school shopping. On the way down we talked about picking out one special outfit for the first day of school (and a pair of jeans!) We went from store to store trying on various options, and of course she loved absolutely everything. She was continuously stack ranking her favorites (adorable) until she found this dress. I have to admit, I tried to steer her towards the purple version, but she insisted on the orange one...and ultimately I kept telling her it was her decision, my only rule, was only one special outfit. Once she tried this dress on, it was mission accomplished. (She also picked out Mady's shirt & skirt - also perfect - Mady's shirt is Gloria the Hippo from Madagascar, and she LOVED it!)
When we got to school, the girls immediately found there way to the reading area in Annabelle's classroom - so sweet.

Viva Streets

Viva Streets transforms 23rd Avenue between City Park and Stapleton into a car-free parkway for one day, to encourage a healthy active culture.  Annabelle thought it was great fun to ride down the middle of the street that is generally busy with cars.  And stop along the way to check out the vendors & activities, and  catch up with neighbors/classmates.
Of course we had to stop at the Art Garage

And then we found some drums to play with...
Before heading home to have the peaches we picked up on our Viva Street adventure

Leah (finally) turns 4!!!!!!

I say "finally," because Leah has waited literally the entire year to turn 4! She is one of the last of her class to be 4, and she has gone to party after party and watched her classmates all turn 4.

Leah's guest after everyone got there face painted!
"Who wants cake?"

Leah making her wish... this must have been the moment she was waiting for... because she took the most dramatic pause! Nobody was going to rush her to a wish. You go girl!

Nobody tell her that her classmates are about to start turning 5!

Denver County Fair

This was the 2nd Annual Denver County fair. Last year I really wanted to check it out, but it was over a weekend we had already over committed ourselves. This year, Scott and I talked about taking the girls back to the Arapahoe County fair, but we elected to try Denver instead.

I promise these pictures will make this look like WAY more fun than it was!
(and I am not being funny, cute or sarcastic)

free ice cream
not free pony rides!
watching the hula dancers
(clearly this is not your ordinary fair)

the arts & craft table was absolutely the best part
I think we were there for less than 2 hours
(which was an hour too long for Scott!)
You win some, and you lose some.

Cartoons with Uncle Jon

Even though this a horribly executed shot, and I can critique it for hundreds of reasons, I actually love it. It captures a real moment, during a rare 12 hour visit from Uncle Jon (10 of those hours the girls spent sleeping,) and I will cherish it. (Uncle Jon, sorry I cut off your face.)

Happy Birthday to me!!

Thank you to Michelle, Stacy, Cassie & Jen for a fabulous birthday celebration downtown! I haven't laughed that much, in a really long time.
