Badu

"Badu" is one of Madelyn's new words. And for the past two weeks, we have been trying to figure out exactly what it means, because she is definitely trying to say something very specific. But as we weren't able to figure out what it meant, we just laughed at our attempts to figure it out.

Well, last week Annabelle said it was penguin in Spanish, I googled it (crazier things have happened!!) and penguin in Spanish is pingüino. But little did we know Annabelle was definitely on to something!

This past weekend, Madelyn freaked out saying "BADU, BADU, BADU" when we were looking through the National Geographic Book of Animals and came to a page on penguins. Annabelle immediately looked at me and said "badu means penguin to Madelyn!" She was so proud that she figured it out. Adorable.

Later in the evening, we were all huddled in bed, and Scott was reading Madelyn an alphabet board book. When they came to the P page with a picture of a penguin, Madelyn stood up and started shouting " BADU, BADU, BADU!!"

Well tonight when I picked Mady up from school, I asked her teacher if she knew Mady's word and where it might have originated, she looked at me like I had four heads, but she was trying to figure it out. When I told her we think it's Mady's word for penguin, she laughed...."it is waddle, waddle!!!"

So she immediately asked Mady "what does a penguin do?" And Mady went crazy saying "WADU, WADU, WADU!!!" HILARIOUS.

So as it turns out "badu" is actually "wadu," which translates to waddle!

Madelyn is in the middle of a verbal explosion...new words every day! Some of which we are still learning to decode! HA!

Centaurus Girls Basketball - Sweet Sixteen

Well the boys are out of the State playoffs, but the girls are still playing! With the extra sweet home court advantage we went to watch the game tonight! It was fun to sit in the {packed} stands as a family and watch a Centaurus Basketball game. Annabelle wore her cheerleader skirt that Grandma Suzie made her and we even learned a cheer - which we then mastered later at home! Great for getting the sillies out before bed!

Next weekend...at the Elite Eight!!!!

Girls Weekend - Big Bear / San Diego

Michelle has been saying for years she wanted to take a girls trip to her family's cabin in Big Bear, California, and we finally made it happen!!! Three of us flew from Denver to San Diego, and then we picked up Michelle's sister & a friend in San Diego and headed up to Big Bear for two nights.

Madelyn & I were home alone, and I was in the kitchen preparing her some dinner when all of a sudden I hear "beep beep!" come from Madelyn (and yes it was directed at me!) Excuse me, am I in your way?

SNOW DAY!

This was our first official snow day! School was cancelled for Scott, Annabelle & Madelyn!!! Fun Stuff. We invited the Turbows over for a snow date!!!

Annabelle has never been interested or willing to play in the snow, until this year. Not sure what changed, but she LOVED it, especially trying to eat literally all 10 inches of snow in our front yard. Madelyn was of course totally excited about an adventure! We bundled up and headed out front. Neither Cassie nor I really thought the kids would last long, but all four would have stayed out as long as humanly possible!

After our fun in the snow, we came inside for some hot cocoa & games! The littles "played" Connect Four and the bigs played Guess Who.
